WHEE !!

dVerse Quadrille We're challenged
to write a poem of exactly 44 words
including the word balloon
Submitted 3-27-17

Inflated and untethered
my steed rises in sunrise glow
‘til we’re gamboling along the current
with a sky view of all below

Skipping and swaying joyfully
my hot air balloon and me
my troubles seem to fall away
I’m sailing wild and free.

WHEE!

  1. In summer evenings when we sit on our balcony it sometimes happens that a balloon passes over us... it sounds wonderful to fly like that.

  5. I've never been up in a balloon. I think my fear of heights would kick in, but I like the idea of dropping my troubles down below.

    1. Thank you for your kind words, Victoria. It's true, at 83 one can't waste precious time sweating the small stuff! For years a small slate hung in my kitchen inscribed with the words "Count Blessings, Choose Happy". It does seem if we take time to count blessings, there's more happy, doesn't it?

  11. Skipping and swaying - nice image in those words! I would never have thought of a balloon as skipping and that adds to the wonderous childlike quality of your poem!
