WHY?

Haibun/Haiku Monday, and we’re
asked to feature the WHY of our writing
style, and add a classic haiku (not a micro-poem).

Why do I turn to the back page to see if it ends
well before I select a book, and why are most
of my poems the same?  Because I’m an eternal
optimist, honed by lessons learned early on from
sturdy stock, empowered by faith, enamored of
words, inordinately curious, occasionally sarcastic
with a humorous bent, compelled to commit
words to paper,  and hoping to leave positive
footprints in the sands of time.  When my book
of life is written, I trust it ends well.

write a new story

  1. I can't think of a better way to live than "to leave positive
footprints in the sands of time." Nice haiku about the "clean slate" coming.

    1. I DO read documentaries and autobiographies, regardless of how they end, I must confess.

  7. I do the same thing too...check if there is a happy ending. So glad to know your positive outlook in life Bev. Love your photo and this part: leave positive
footprints in the sands of time.

  10. Love the positive not and that wonderful haiku. To leave good footprints (maybe for others to follow) is the best you can do with life.

  17. I was surprised with your self claim of "I’m an eternal
optimist" -- instead, I often hear you rant against things. So I hear your negative voice often. And I often like it.
