Seems to me it's time the rhymes of Mother Goose
need to be updated.  I'd like to think she agrees.

Hey diddle diddle, the cat and the fiddle
Played a mournful tune
Democrats and Republican will get along
When the cow jumps over the moon.

Baa Baa Black Sheep
Man of Honor and True
Where oh where are you hiding
We’re certainly needing you

Eeny Meeny Miney Moe
Catch a liar by his toe
If we’re lucky he’ll tweet and go
Eeny Meeny Miney Moe

Politicians, pudding and pie
Kissed the girls and made them cry
But when “Me Too” came into play
All the lechers ran away

Jack be nimble
Jack be quick
Jack broke the rules
What a dick

Peter, Peter, Pumpkin Eater
Cast his vote for Trump, the Tweeter
Now he’s sorry, truth to tell
Class and decorum have gone to hell

My apologies to Mother Goose
And what I’ve done to her rhymes
I just felt the need to bring them
Up to modern times.

  1. Mother Goose is proud of you, and so am I. Very well done, and a delight to read!

  2. Ha... we just have reached a chaos in politics here as well... division seems to be what unites us.

  3. Great fun here Beverly and pointedly political too... You made me smile this Sunday - thank you...

  4. APPLAUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL. These made my day! If only he would tweet and go. But I doubt he will go quietly.

  5. Well... feeling political are we. Mother Goose in 2018 is trying to manage Planned Parenthood : )
Enjoyed the truth in you limericks.

    1. Yep. I usually hit the mute, but a couple of comments got past, jump started my adrenalin and raised my blood pressure!

  6. Very funny these lines! You certainly are feeling political today!

  7. A great way to express the ongoing frustrations, and perhaps lift your and our spirits into the bargain.

  8. I love this. Especially - if we're lucky he will tweet and go!! No apologies to Mother Goose necessary. I think Mother Goose would concur!

  9. ha - now that was quite the nursery rhyme. You certainly nailed the political arena.

  10. What fun! Sad too but true. We're in stranger than fiction and nursery rhymes times.

  11. I think the Mother Goose would be delighted!

  12. I'm laughing so hard that I sort of scared my husband, and he ran into the bedroom thinking I popped a stitch or something. I know I shouldn't laugh this hard (at the terrible reality this speaks of), but... we both know that we either laugh or start screaming (and probably even strangling people).
