STORIES TOLD

Open Link Night at dVerse

***********

I think I was a scribe
in some previous life,
leaving word pictures on cliff walls,
carving ancient symbols in weathered rock,
leaving pictoglyphs and petroglyphs for posterity,
painstakingly recording things I perceived
on papyrus with a reed pen,
determined to leave for some unknown descendant
a record of my perception
of my life and times.
How else will the stories be told?

  2. Oh I really enjoyed this one and the perspective you've taken. After all, our blogs and poetry inscribed there can be handed down to our relatives and future generations as well.....as long as the computer screen is "alive!" :) Story tellers are we.

    1. I'm thinking pictoglyphs are figures and petroglyphs are symbols, but I think the two words are used interchangeably!

  5. Writing on papyrus must have been painstaking. I would not want to have made a mistake.
