Quadrille 140 and we're given the word "fair" for our poem of exactly 44 words. Submitted to dVerse, November 15, 2021.
*************
To be or not to be
In words of the bard
We find the being
Is inordinately hard
We give our best
All we can bear
But obstacles appear
It doesn’t seem fair
All’s fair in love and war
Says the bard, what’s more
I enjoyed that!...Echoing the bard...
ReplyDeleteLovely Beverly. Thanks for sharing with us.
ReplyDeletePassions run high in both love and war, as the bard understands. Enjoyed your musings!
ReplyDeleteSo true. Nicely done poem.
ReplyDelete"We find the being/Is inordinately hard": the Bard hits the nail on the head in more ways than one. Sometimes fairness just doesn't come into it. Somber reflections, Beverly. I love the way you stretch his words to cover your thoughts.
ReplyDeletepax,

ReplyDeleteAnd close is close enough — when tossing hand grenades! 💥
ReplyDeleteSo very true--the being is hard--and the bard knows.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if it has to be fair like that... but I guess that the strongest will always win.
