SMALL VOICE

Quadrille #85 … 44 words on the
subject of our inner voice.  I harken
to a time when I was newly widowed
and my inner voice challenged me as
I learned to live alone once more.

**************

Furniture is polished
To warm rosy glow
Small voice says “Who’ll know?”

Soup is a’simmer
Good smells in air
Small voice says “Who’ll share?”

Windows are sparkling
Clean as can be
Small voice says “Who’ll see?”

Lesson to be learned
Small voice says “When?”

  1. I'm sure you've discovered by now that your own pleasure, opinion and voice matter too, so much. :) I love these ponderings. I am so sorry for your loss, no matter how long ago it was. I am so happy you have found your poetic voice. It's beautiful.

    1. Thank you, De. It IS a long time ago, and I've learned to treasure my solitude. My world is peopled with loving family and good friends, and now my small voice says "You win!"

  8. I love your quadrille, Bev, for reminding me that as long as we have that small voice, we know we are alive. It’s not easy when we have no one to share the warm, rosy glow, the soup and clean windows with – another reason to move closer to my daughter and grandson.

  9. I admire your strength, standing up to the little voice and carrying on. I'm not sure I'd be able to. My windows don't even sparkle now...
