SHANKSGIVING
Who was sacrificed for today?
A proud gobbler who had other plans
A piglet perhaps who was out to play
A lamb known to his many fans
No doubt they had each dreamed success
Far afield from this actual truth
Never expecting to be considered largesse
What a dire ending, forsooth!
From the title to the wonderful rhyme to the last line, this is awesome! Love it Beverly! I hope you do have a safe and pleasant Thanksgiving ahead!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Carrie. My grandson's wife just tested positive for Covid, so our planned small gathering is cancelled. We'll be cooking, however, and leaving their dinner on their porch.
DeleteI cannot stop laughing!! Forsooth indeed, my good woman!!
ReplyDeleteOh, this is terrible and wonderful at the same time! :)
ReplyDeleteUncomfortable to think of the main attraction!
DeleteOh yes, we dont like to think about the lives these animals live, enjoy and dont want to lose........I loved this, Bev.
ReplyDeleteForsooth!
DeleteNice one Bev
ReplyDeleteHAPPY SUNDAY
much🖤love
"Shanksgiving!" I find lambs too cute to eat, even though they are delicious.
ReplyDeleteI used to love veal parmesan until my daughter reminded me graphically what I was eating!! Haven't ordered it since.
Delete"Far afield" LOL!
ReplyDeleteSounds like some dreams didn't end so well.
ReplyDeleteWonderful rhyming Bev! Sorry to hear of your grandson's wife. Change of plans is in order.
ReplyDeleteHank
I suggest lettuce hearts and mountain rivulet water for a politically correct thanksgiving lunch!
ReplyDeleteFor a long time I've felt sorry for the little pigs riding in the back of an 18 wheeler headed to market. We have been gifted with the food chain but that thought dosen't do much for me. But I'm not a vegan nor a vegetarian.
ReplyDeleteThanks for reminding me of Jim Jones, (grimace),
..
You had me at the title!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this. :) Happy Thanksgiving (a day early).
