CANDLEOLOGY

THE SUNDAY MUSE

CANDLEOLOGY

Funny thing about a candle……

When burning, it emits a warm glow
saying “all is well” and creating
an atmosphere of content

When snuffed out, as if sending
its  resentment into the atmosphere,
 it emits an acrid scent

And those who’d basked in its warm glow
are left bereft and lost in limbo
wondering where its flame went.

  4. Ha, I never thought of a candle as resenting being snuffed out. That is a very cool thought. Smiles.

  6. I won't argue, Bev. But for scented candles I am already "lost in limbo" with an instant headache.

  10. You've blown not the bird away
but the flame of the candle.

And some wonder where it is.

  11. Interesting thoughts regarding the flame and smoke. Perhaps the smoke is a sign of distress. Sending out an S.o.s

  12. there really is something inherently sad about an extinguished candle flame, perhaps beyond just the symbolic nature of that image, but the actual lose of its light and the smokey spirals... well said bev, enjoyed this very much
