**********************
Joy reigned in the beginning
When love had just begun
One selfish, careless act
And a piece of love was gone.
A door was closed to closeness
That could not be regained
But love is slow to disappear
And still some of it remained.
One final breech of trust
More thoughtless than before
No need to discuss forgiveness
For now love is no more.

Three's a charm... and often the end. Love can take much, but some things... No, for some things the only answer is no.
ReplyDeleteNice sound and message about the cost of losing trust.
ReplyDeleteA complete story and well told!
ReplyDeleteThere are some things even love cannot survive...
ReplyDeleteI agree with Thotpurge. Have been there. Great poem, Bev.
ReplyDeleteSadly, this is the way some relationships go, Bev, and many of us have experienced that final breach of trust, often time and again. It's a human predicament.
ReplyDeleteWhen love disappears....a sad piece to write.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully poignant!
ReplyDeleteSuch a sad thing when this happens, though I find I just have to let go and forgive in my heart for my own well-being.
ReplyDeleteWell, what we thought was love clearly was not. So just what is lost when our so-called "loved ones" treat us with such disrespect?
ReplyDeleteah...trust...how hard it is to maintain a relationship without trust.
ReplyDeleteHow sad it is that people who profess love do stupid things that erode trust and betray their love.

Ouch.
ReplyDeleteLoved what you did in this line:
ReplyDelete"a door was closed to closeness." Great poem!
Such finality in the last line. It takes over everything.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed these, Beverly. The first one I believe 100% (most of the time) and the second makes me smile. Faith and joy--your gift to us today.
