Is MASKS

We hide behind the cheerful façade
Lest hurt be known, now isn’t that odd?
Our hearts are pierced by verbal thrusts
Unkind deeds and broken trust
And yet we smile, our lips are sealed
So … is it a mask, or is it a shield?

Good question!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely..excellent question! Robin had a similar one..is it courage or not..
ReplyDeleteNice one, thought provoking
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday Bev
Much love...
Laughing and crying here at this little gem. We certainly are creative!
ReplyDeleteExcellent question indeed. A bit of both maybe?
ReplyDeleteAnna :o]
I am hoping its a shield :)
ReplyDeleteWell put
ReplyDeleteYes, we put on that brave face of indifference then weep when we turn away.
ReplyDeleteThat is a very good question. Our automatic "fine!" to "How are you?" Because no one really wants to hear anything else. LOL.
ReplyDeleteExcellent question, Bev!
ReplyDeleteI think shield is the best. At least one can be saved from being hurt. And I also agree with what Sherry says. A nice little gem, Bev.
ReplyDeletewow powerful poem and question I think it is both a shield and a mask
ReplyDeleteThat's really a question... excellent!
ReplyDeleteYes, we use it as a shield! It's strange why we are all afraid of making ourselves visible! But I feel, the genuine Moi is more amazing than any mask I can hide behind. Smiles.
ReplyDeleteLovely read, Indy! Loved it.
Hmmmm -- both, I think. Masks are put in place to shield a person from something!
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's both!
