     EYES

we see with foregone conclusion
which often is faulty illusion
we’d do best to see with our heart

we tend to be judgmental
misled by things ornamental
betrayed by our eyes from the start.

  3. The demanding and entertained eye finding itself less a gatekeeper than it previously supposed. :) True and worth remembering.

  7. It is really interesting how much our eyes might betray us...

Plato's image of shadows on the wall of a cave comes to mind.

  9. Our own eyes are not to be trusted? Mine have blank spots, I'm sure. All my life I miss things. Weeds in the cornfields at age 11 to the TV remote just this evening.
Good Write Beverly, I like the aspect, scary.

  10. Sadness, how eyes can mislead if acting alone. You capture this well.
