THE STAIR

Weekly Scribblings #58 and we're challenged with a new  poetic form presented by Candy at rhymeswithbug.com called the Waltmarie...something new and different.  Submitted to Poets and Storytellers United, February 24, 2021.

abandoned stair to nowhere

puzzle

once to some man’s dream

ponder

who marked this stair with

footstep

how many years have passed

forgot

they took their secrets with them

unknown

  1. Loved it, Beverly, stairs are always in the spotlight for some reason. I am guessing that it is a short cut to what is above. Reminds me of some outdoors stairs that I fell downwards and broke a kneecap. We had to come home from an overseas holiday trek.

  4. Yes, there is a mystery in your poem. But where do they truly lead?

    1. That's the mystery! There is nothing left at the head of the stair to indicate what was there. It's all lost in time.

  7. Maybe it was just a safe way to walk up the hill - but it makes one wonder. Well done on a tricky challenge!

  8. I like the the mystery. They used to go somewhere, yet no one remembers just where. The stuff urban legends are founded on?
