Quadrille # 121 We’re asked to feature the word “embrace” in exactly 44 words.
MEMORIES
I embrace the memories
of friendly gatherings
and hugs all around ---
a symbol of sisterhood
as lives were shared,
our own joys and sorrows
and those of our children
and then grandchildren
and their challenges.
Sadly now, I have only
the memories to embrace.
It is sad, but at least you have the memories--and hopefully you will make new ones to embrace soon!

Heartfelt and so true, Bev!
ReplyDeleteThat's the way it goes, accept it or fight it, I hope your memories make a soft place for you.
ReplyDeleteI sense the sadness, mellowed a little by the joy of memories which reify the sadness too, ah, the mess of life, but what a journey when you can live as you say.
ReplyDeleteI really felt the pain in your ending: it is so hard to be detached from those we love!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautifully heartfelt and I hope fond memories come your way soon.
ReplyDeleteSo sad to be left alone when you have done so much together... still the memories are there.
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderfully heartfelt, Bev!💝 I hope there will be many more memories to hold and cherish.
ReplyDeleteWe embrace what we can. Real and raw write! 💕
ReplyDeleteI long for those embraces, as well.
