MEMORIES

Quadrille # 121  We’re asked to feature the word “embrace” in exactly 44 words.

MEMORIES

I  embrace the memories

of friendly gatherings

    and hugs all around ---

a symbol of sisterhood

as lives were shared,

our own joys and sorrows

     and those of our children

and then grandchildren

and their challenges.

Sadly now, I have only

the memories to embrace.

  9. I sense the sadness, mellowed a little by the joy of memories which reify the sadness too, ah, the mess of life, but what a journey when you can live as you say.
