TRAVEL COMPANION

Tuesday Poetics, and we’re to write a verse epistle, the subject to be our choice.   My choice is personal and heartfelt.  Submitted to dVerse, March 8, 2021.

*****************

My dear one, my hero in blue~~

You carry me where I wish to go.

We enjoy our solitude, you and I

and yet our togetherness brings us joy.

Together we  savour country lanes,

visits to deserted cemeteries,

quaint villages and shops filled with  ephemera.

Our camaraderie improves with the years.

We both ripen with age, like fine wine.

If  I have not remembered to tell you

I tell you now,--- your faithfulness enriches me.

Of them all, you are my stouthearted favorite~~

my own dependable, reliable Buick LeSabre !

    1. Rare indeed, Bjorn. I had my Buick from 2001 to 2020. It was a trusty steed!

  3. Awesome work, Beverly. I think everyone's had (maybe still has) one of those cars. Sometimes people name them, like a pet or a very close friend, and mourn them when the junkyard calls. Well done

  6. We all need to learn to keep and treasure our possessions for a lot longer, rather than throw them away always seeking the newest model. I love this letter to your car which held such happy memories!

  7. I too have a blue car, a VW Beetle, called Betty Blue, but I haven’t driven her in months. My husband takes her out for a spin occasionally to stop the battery from going flat. I really enjoyed your letter to your hero in blue, Bev, but I don’t feel the same way about driving anymore. I hope that changes and I get to enjoy the solitude of savouring country lanes again.
