Monday Quadrille, and the word for our exact 44 word poem is "stand". For some reason, my father came to mind, and his good advice to all the boys in our family. Submitted to dVerse, August 9, 2021

A MAN IN GOOD STANDING
It’s a good stand of corn,
my father used to say when
crops were thriving
Stand up, give a seat to your elders
Mind your manners
Watch your tongue
Be true to your word
And one day you’ll be a man
in good standing
Kindness and thoughtfulness are always worthwhile, and never go out of fashion.
ReplyDeleteRespect and kindness go a long way and you never know how it impacts someone, especially when we don't know what goes on in their heads. Beautifully said, Beverly!
ReplyDeleteI am not certain if I am a man in good standing or not Bev. I am grateful to be a man still standing. I have beat this old body hard in its years on this earth, but it’s still somehow weathering the abuse. 🤞🏼
ReplyDeleteI'd say in good standing, Rob, since it appears you are well loved. Your intelligence and your concern for Mother Earth are impressive.
DeleteA meaningful use of the word, "stand". We certainly need more of this kindness in our world.
ReplyDeleteGood lessons passed down.
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday

ReplyDeleteYu had a wise father! Great poem full of wisdom!
ReplyDeleteI can practically hear his voice, Bev... it sounds so real.

David
