WEEKLY SCRIBBLINGS Moving forward to a new format, we're asked to write something on the theme of forward movement. I took a look back at all the poetic terminology I've encountered here, and I'm looking forward to learning more! Submitted to Poets & Storytellers United, October 20, 2021
**************
Assonance dissonance, volta and rhyme
Seguidilla,,sasparilla, lemon and lime
Stanzaic, syllabic, and skip to milieu
Slant rhyme, unrhyme, haibun and haiku
Such are the concerns of an aspiring poet
One thing to hear it, another to know it
While looking back at challenges met
Moving forward seems timely
There’s much to learn yet!.
Wonderful, Bev! Carl and I are right now sitting in the Las Vegas airport waiting for our return flights. A truly lovely trip.
ReplyDeleteIt looked as if you were having a great time. Happy memories for Carl -- and for you. Safe trip home!
DeleteOK, that seems like a hint we can take, lol.
ReplyDeleteI love your attitude, and your wonderfully rhyming/rhythmic list.
This was fun! And rather inspiring. I think we would make a very good prompt.
ReplyDeleteTry all the forms once....then you can say you have done it and go on your merry own way.
ReplyDeleteVery spiffy work, Beverly! I esp dig "skip to milieu"! Ha!
ReplyDeleteI like that word, spiffy. :)
Deletevery well said bev, and it's been a pleasure writing it and learning along with you! and of course, looking forward to more.
ReplyDeleteGood one, Bev!
ReplyDeleteNice rimes. I like "Seguidilla, sarsaparilla..."
ReplyDeleteLove how you stuck that sarsaparilla into the poem. Lemon and lime too. I'll have one, please.
