Poetics Tuesday, and Sanza has given us lengthy and explicit instructions in the art of panegyric poetry. I've chosen to depict my dream candidate in our next presidential election. Call it fantasy if you wish! Submitted to dVerse, October 5, 2021
**************
THE CANDIDATE
Your youthful vigor has been ever directed
toward the goal of service to this country
you love Since early years, you have conducted
yourself with integrity, treating others with respect,
but never veering from your goal. You are the
epitomy of an honorable man, humble and
God-fearing, yet courageous when need be.
There are no questionable issues in your past
to be divulged to demean you. You have accrued
no debts or favors to dissuade your goals. You are
my candidate. You have my vote.
This is incredibly poignant, Beverly! I hope your candidate makes it through 💝💝 Thank you so much for writing to the prompt.
ReplyDeleteI think that such a candidate doesn't even exist.
ReplyDeleteII fear so, Bjorn, which is why I said it might be considered fantasy. But, wouldn't it be nice to find such a candidate?
Delete*laughing* - that was my reaction too! Well done, Bev!

Nice composition Beverly. The ideal candidate
ReplyDeleteMuch💜love
Good one Bev. He or she has my vote too!
ReplyDeleteIf only there were such a candidate!
ReplyDeleteI love this Bev. I think the best candidate already won ☺️💕
ReplyDeleteCould be read as either sincere or sarcastic, thus spotlighting the dilemma we face when we take a chance with our leaders.
ReplyDeleteWas Jimmy Carter the last of them? I wonder.
ReplyDeleteGood point! Let's hope there's another somewhere.
DeleteA wonderful sketch of what you look for in a leader. Well done!
ReplyDeleteKeep looking and your fantasy may come true. We live in hope. You certainly got the panegyric happening.
ReplyDeleteI do hope this fantasy comes true! As voters that's all we ask for.
ReplyDeleteBeverly,
ReplyDeleteYou've articulated it so well, it could be a prayer. We live in hope, don't we?
