Grace is hosting Quadrille #43,
and has chosen the word “creak” for
our 44 word poem. For a while there
I was on a roll … but it seems I ran
out of words!

*****************
Sally was a fair young maiden
Who heard a creaky stair
She grabbed her trusty pistol
They’d not catch her unaware
She hid behind her bedroom door
Preparing for the worst
With pistol cocked she waited
As through the door he burst
…… The End
*************************
I hope she didn't shoot someone she didn't want to shoot.
ReplyDeleteHa ha...what a cliff hanger...
ReplyDeleteLove the rhyme that this word has been bringing out. Well done.
ReplyDeleteOh my days!I'm with Frank- hope she shot a baddie, not a goodie!
ReplyDeleteFunny, funny ending. The end, indeed :)
ReplyDeleteOh oh...what happened...is it truly The End...?
ReplyDeleteNow, I think you need to write another quadrille to tell us what happened?
ReplyDeleteWe have those creaky stairs in our house. Lucky I don't own a gun. Drywall repair would begin to get costly! Great write; ended too soon.
ReplyDeleteOh what a perfect way to end... I wonder ends for whom..
ReplyDeleteI'd love to know who 'he' is - you'll have me guessing all day!
ReplyDeletea cliff hanger quadrille!
ReplyDeleteWho is he?!
ReplyDeleteOh, dear. I'm with the others. I hope she didn't shoot a friend or lover!
ReplyDeleteWhew....Sally was ready indeed. Now I want to know the back story! :)
ReplyDeleteooh... who was he? loved reading this..
ReplyDeleteYour piece is interesting - it can be treated as something comical or something that is ominous. Because I am weary of all the sadness and pains I read about, I will go for a funny resolution here. :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy day to you.

It was strictly tongue-in-cheek. Nothing ominous here!
Delete...and that's why they call her "Two-gun Sally"! Nice work leaving is in suspense!
