This week's Midweek Motif topic is FLOWERS.
Did you ever take a country drive and notice flowers
growing beside an abandoned house, and think about
who planted them? Did you wonder if she knows her
flowers still bloom there? Such a drive inspired this bit of
digital art and the poem therein.

Yes, you see it. And you wonder, about who planted the flowers at the old homestead. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteBev, I LOVE this! The picture, and the poem. I used to walk along a trail to an old homestead site, nothing left but the crumbled foundation, and some lilac bushes, and thought about the people who once lived there and planted them.............they were said to have been buried somewhere nearby.
ReplyDeletethis is Beautiful Bev. Yes such a scene is cause to wonder. Luv the contrast of decay set against renewal
ReplyDeleteThank you for dropping in to read mine
much love...
Your poem makes me tear up. I remember the purple irises that my grandmother loved so much, growing by her backdoor. I wonder if they grow there still? They certainly do in my memory!
ReplyDeleteI'll bet they do. The couple who bought my parents' farm home sent me a photo this year, saying my mother's flowers are still blooming ... and the photo they sent happened to be of purple iris!
DeleteLove how you combined artistic talents here. You are quite and artist. Enjoyed.
ReplyDeleteLove how the flowers remain, sending a warm welcome to any who pass by. Your words and image are well married to one another.

Whimsical and moving...sweet poem !
ReplyDeleteYes! Enough said. Though they are mighty tall violets--Iris, maybe? I always wonder and always imagine traces of human life.
ReplyDeleteHA! They ARE a bit tall for violets. Actually, I found the photo of the abandoned house, then placed the violets, but found if I didn't make them a bit bigger they wouldn't show up! I should've used iris!
DeleteI love that thought... and that artwork is wonderful..
ReplyDeleteMy goodness this is haunting!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fitting memorial to a keen gardener of old.
ReplyDeleteThe sense of time and space really sings.. a legacy fair and true
ReplyDeleteLovely countryside images, Beverly. I can relate to the legacy of the flowers as we still enjoy the bloom of flowers planted by my hubby's grand-mom, who had long left this world. Wonderful response to the prompt!
ReplyDeleteLovely digital art, and sweet reflection in the poem.
ReplyDeleteI think about things like that all the time. When I see old abandoned buildings and houses I wonder a lot about the history behind them. I used to live in a place that had been vacant for about a century and I wondered what went on there at the time. Great inspiration exclamation point
ReplyDeleteLovely! I had a deja vu moment with this; once I wrote a flash fiction piece that had a similar theme. Certainly is one that triggers the imagination!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful thought, Bev, in this delicate and profound poem. Our good deeds survive us and influence the world positively long after we depart from it.
