THE BUM'S RUSH

Quadrille #110....Exactly 144 words and
the key word is BUM or a form thereof.
Please excuse my language .... but it's
such a perfect rhyme I couldn't resist.

Oh Great Poobah of the Universe
your plan is troubling me
I'm 86 now, on borrowed time
And plenty bumfuzzled, you see
How can I fill these final days
Marking off my bucket list
When you've arranged my sequester
Leaving me most royally pissed!

  1. Love this, Bev! I, too, am often royally pissed these days, at the state of things.

In fact it makes it all the more challenging to be able and allowed to think outside the box.

  6. Hahaha, I think we can all feel this. I love the rhythm here and your observations are very honest and funny. I got a nice laugh at the end. I think if pissed is not the way to describe it, then I don't know what is. We are all pissed off these days with the state of the world, are we not? Brilliant piece with perfect meter.

  11. In UK English, to be royally pissed means to be extremely drunk. I raise my glass to you, Beverly :)

    1. In American English it means to be very angry (alang:ticked off). Strange, isn't it, we speak the same language, but it certainly varies here and there!
